The Hogwarts Express is getting ready to depart once again, and this time, it’s marking a milestone. Kicking off the festivities, a special free screening of Goblet of Fire will take place at Cineworld Leicester Square on 31st August, with James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley) appearing for a live Q&A hosted by broadcaster Yinka Bokinni. Wizards Welcome at Leicester Square

Visitors to Leicester Square will also find the Harry Potter ‘Scenes in the Square’ statue transformed with a new Quidditch-themed backdrop for a day of photo ops. The statue, part of the permanent trail of film icons in the square, is already a fan favourite, but for 31st August, expect longer queues and added atmosphere. A queuing system will be in place from 9am to 6pm.

Attendees at the Cineworld event will receive goodie bags including Wizarding World collectible figures from Spinmaster, a 7” Lumos Wand from WOW! Stuff, and other surprises – plus, fancy dress is encouraged, with prizes up for grabs from LEGO and The Noble Collection.

Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter for a countdown moment and live celebration. Entry is via competition only, with full details available on the Studio Tour’s Instagram @wbtourlondon.

Importantly, fans are advised that there will be no countdown event at King’s Cross Station this year, and are urged not to travel there to avoid disappointment.

The party doesn’t stop in central London. From 28th July, the Harry Potter Shop at King’s Cross is launching exclusive Back to Hogwarts merchandise, along with a themed photo frame for visitors.

Elsewhere in the capital, the House of MinaLima, the design studio behind many of the films’ iconic graphics, will host a meet and greet on 31st August with limited edition giveaways while supplies last.

And theatre-goers heading to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre between 3rd and 7th September will receive exclusive celebratory badges.

Wider Celebrations Across the UK

Retailers including Smyths Toys Superstores will be joining in, offering Harry Potter photo ops, product discounts and LEGO giveaways. Meanwhile, fans of the bestselling game Hogwarts Legacy can pick up the Standard and Deluxe editions at up to 80% off across all major platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Steam and Epic Game Store.

LEGO.com will also play host to a themed hub of activities, offers and fan content, while Wizarding Wednesdays return from 13th August to 23rd September with weekly online giveaways, fans can follow along via Harry Potter social channels.

Join the Global Showcase

On 1st September, the annual Back to Hogwarts showcase will stream live across YouTube, TikTok and Instagram from 10:40 BST, offering updates, sneak peeks and announcements for the year ahead.

Snapchat users can also take part in the fun via a brand-new Bitmoji Lens experience launching mid-August. The augmented reality filter will let friends travel together through scenes from the films, including the Dursleys’ living room and Platform 9¾.

A Journey That Still Captures Imaginations

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire marked a darker turn in the franchise when it was first released in 2005, with the arrival of Lord Voldemort and the introduction of the Triwizard Tournament. Two decades on, the film remains a fan favourite, and this year’s re-release offers a chance for new audiences and lifelong fans alike to see it on the big screen once more.

As the wizarding world celebrates this anniversary and the return to Hogwarts, it’s clear that the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to bring people together, in Leicester Square, on cinema screens, and through every wand wave, trivia quiz and Hogwarts letter.
